November 2017 Favorites

Welcome to the inaugural post in my new Monthly Favorites blog series where I will be sharing some of the things I have most enjoyed during each month! I know this is not a unique idea, but I have been wanting to do this for some time now and I am excited to finally get started!

This series will be broken up into three different sections. I will be sharing a few (or many) of the beauty and lifestyle products that I have been loving under "Her Favorites". Mr. San Diego will be sharing one (or two if he is lucky) of his monthly favorites under "His Favorites". Lastly, we will be sharing our Favorite Movie, Favorite Binge, and Favorite Random under "Our Favorites". Simple!

Let's get started.

1. Tarte's Tartelette Toasted Palette - $46

Tarte has been always a winner when it comes to their palettes, but this palette...THIS PALETTE IS EVERYTHING. These toasty tones are perfect for the season and I have received so many compliments on my makeup when I've used it. Even Mr. San Diego noticed and complimented my eyeshadow, which is a miracle since he is generally an oblivious husband when it comes to my beauty routine. The shadows are super pigmented, blend incredibly well, and have very little fall out. With a good mix of mattes and shimmers, this would be an excellent travel palette as it serves well for both day and glam night looks. An unexpected plus to this gorgeous palette is that it smells like hot chocolate!

2. Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in "Feisty" - $29

Again, Tarte for the win! I received this 1.5g sample of the color Feisty in a recent beauty subscription and I fell in love. At first, I was a little hesitant since the color seemed a little too warm and dark, but I decided to give it a try and it has been the blush I have worn every single day for the past month! It is a perfect pairing with the Toasted palette mentioned above. Feisty almost seemed slightly terracotta toned but it is branded as "dusty rose". I love the formula of these blushes (I have three) and would recommend the blushes in any color!

3. House of Lashes in "Iconic Lite" - $12

Fake eyelashes make everything better. Really good fake eyelashes make you feel like a goddess just emerged from the pools of Aphrodite's palace. That is exactly how I feel when I am wearing the Iconic Lite lashes from House of Lashes. The "lite" part of the name refers to the thickness of the band. There is a regular Iconic lash set that I have used before but the band was very thick and it made every blink feel incredibly uncomfortable. Seasoned fake lash wearers may not have an issue with this, but I did. When I discovered there was a lite version, I bought three sets and have not experienced any awkward heaviness or discomfort. I loved these lashes so much that I wore them on my wedding day! They're reusable if you clean them well and can last you a good amount of wears.

Where to Get It: House of Lashes website for $12 a pair, or buy three for $30 under the Custom Pack option!

4. Burt's Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream - $6.49

This hand cream is not something new to my arsenal but it is something that I have been using religiously since the weather started changing. Dry hands are no fun and neither are thick and greasy hand creams. Burt's Bees is the Real MVP for keeping my hands from cracking and feeling like sandpaper this winter. I'm so addicted to this stuff that I would most likely have a panic attack if I left home without it.

Where to Get ItTarget, or anywhere else, really.

5. Bath & Body Works Candle in Pumpkin Pecan Waffles - $22.50

Of all the candles at Bath and Body Works, this is the candle that I look forward to buying every year. It smells exactly as you would imagine but ten times better. It is so popular that you can't even buy them online right now. Go to a brick and mortar and hunt this puppy down!

Where to Get It: Sold out online but you can buy the Wallflowers right now

6. Target's Wifey and Hubby Mugs - $5.99 each

As Mr. San Diego and I are newlyweds AND seriously addicted to coffee, these mugs were right up our alley! They're cute, inexpensive, and could make a great little gift for any newlyweds in your life.

Where to Get It: Target - wifey and hubby.

1. Converge's The Dusk in Us Vinyl - $20

Converge came out with a new album this month and a series of limited edition vinyls. Unfortunately, this purple vinyl is sold out now, but there are other color options still available.

2. Hershey's Cookies and Mint - $1.49

Apparently these Cookies 'N' Mint chocolate bars were around several years ago and were a HOT commodity. Nostalgia for these bars was so strong that someone went out of their way to create a "Bring back the Hershey's Cookies N Mint Bar" Facebook page. I'm not kidding. Since the silent return of this minty cult classic last year, the Facebook fanpage has been filled with obsessed humans sharing where they have spotted the bars in the wild. Mr. San Diego knows the struggle of finding these first hand, having recently spotted these candy bars two weeks ago at Walmart and not finding them anywhere else. His excitement should be apparent in the fact that I had more than one candy bar available to photograph.

Where to Find It: Walmart. Sold out online.

Favorite Movie: Lady Bird

Lady Bird has been making rounds on social media due to its current 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and we can attest that the rating is absolutely deserved! It isn't often that Mr. San Diego and I both walk out of a movie and have nothing to critique.  Saoirse Ronan, whom I have loved for quite some time, was incredible. Greta Gerwig, the director of the movie, knocked this movie out of the park. It is definitely worth seeing. Pro Tip: Bring tissues if you were a pain in the ass teenage girl because you will relate to this movie and then you will cry. Check out the trailer here.

Favorite Binge: Godless

Thank you, Netflix, for another binge-worthy show. If you enjoyed West World and are needing something to fill the void for westerns left by that series, you should check out Godless on Netflix. It is hard to go wrong with gun fights and strong independent women. This seven episode limited series starts off a little slow but gives the needed context for you to enjoy the remaining episodes. Check out the trailer here.

Just an FYI - this is not something for the littles to watch.

If you have not read my recent post about MoviePass, you should! Here is the link to the post. We have seen so many in November and have only paid $9.95 each for the entire month.

Hope you all enjoyed the first installment in this series!
