Blogtober | Disneyland: Halloween + Churros
We went back to California for a weekend and went to the Happiest Place on Earth - DISNEYLAND!
Disneyland at Halloween is THE BEST. Yeah, Christmas is super cool too - but Halloween at the park is my absolute favorite! Everything about it is incredible - the decorations, the food, the seasonal changes to the rides - I love it all.
One of my favorite parts about this time of year at Disneyland are the CHURROS. While the churros at Disney are always incredible, Halloween means they bring out awesome flavored ones. Since I am a churro-addict, I figured I would try all the seasonal ones I could find and share the details with you beautiful people! Keep reading to find out what the flavors are, where to find them, and if they’re worth it!
You know this excites you. You’re welcome. XOXO
Pro Tip: If you download the Disneyland app, you’ll be able to search for dining options and it will list all the churro stands and locations. You’ll be able to click on the Menu icon and it will show you if they have a special churro or not. You can also see what the wait times are for rides, pay $10/pp to upgrade to mobile fast passes, see showtimes, and making reservations at the restaurants.
Pumpkin Spice Churro
Location: Near Haunted Mansion
Side of: Cream Cheese Frosting
Rating: Five Out of Five Pumpkin Mickeys!
As a lover of most things pumpkin spice, I loveddddd this churro! If you only get one churro this Halloween at Disney, this is the one to get. It is right across the entrance from the Haunted Mansion and it is perfect for the season. I didn’t expect the cream cheese to work well with it but it was actually pretty good!
Maleficent Churro
Location: Near Sleeping Beauty Castle, Another Near Town Square
Side of: Marshmallow Dip
Rating: Eh, Two out of Five Pumpkin Mickeys
While the purple sugar is fun, the marshmallow dip is REALLY sweet. It made it difficult to eat. I would imagine that a child might not have any objections to the sweetness, but I did. A+ for looks but WHOA for taste. However, it was really hot when we went and it may be possible that the discomfort from the heat attributed to my dislike.
Sour Apple Churro
Location: Near Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Side of: Caramel Sauce
Rating: Me - One Pumpkin Mickey | Mr. San Diego - Five Pumpkin Mickeys
They’re not joking about the sour part! At first bite, it tastes like a normal churros and then BAM! The sour hits you. Personally, I was not a fan. Mr. San Diego did NOT agree - this churro was his favorite and he ended up eating most of it. I loved the neon green coloring and I think the pairing would probably work for most people, but I was not one of them.
Orange Sugar Churro
Location: Near Big Thunder Mountain
Side of: Candy Corn Sauce
Rating: N/A
It would appear that three shared churros was our limit. It makes me sad because I thought the limit did not exist! As I mentioned earlier, it was a VERY hot afternoon at the park and the idea of candy corn sauce after already eating three churros was NOT appetizing. I should have sucked it up because the colors are perfect for the season, but I just couldn’t do it. I FAILED.
Other Churros
There are three other churro stands throughout Disneyland that DO NOT have special churros. They only sell the regular ones.
Near Small World - Regular Only
Near Casey Jr. - Regular Only
Near Splash Mountain - Regular Only
There are two churro stands in California Adventure that have special churros:
Near Goofy’s Sky School - Purple Sugar Churro, No Sides
Near Redwood Creek Challenge Trail - S’more Churro with Marshmallow Drizzle
Along Downtown Disney there is a company called California Churro that has several churro stands but since they’re a not a Disney owned company, I don’t think they count.
