Homemade Blueberry Bourbon Jam | Recipe
My husband, Mr. San Diego, has recently turned into a homemade-jam-making-Southern-Househusband! He uses bourbon in his recipe and calls it "man jam". Turns out, bourbon in jam is really good! It is really easy to make a small batch - all you need is a few ingredients and no more than an hour!
There are only six ingredients required!
4 Cups of Blueberries
Juice of 1/2 Lemon
1 Cup of Sugar
2 Ounces of Bourbon
Optional: 2 More Ounces of Bourbon to Drink
1 Vanilla Bean
Pinch of Cinnamon
We used turbinado sugar and Bulleit Bourbon because it is our favorite and was the only good whiskey we had on hand.
In a saucepan, combine all the ingredients over medium-high heat.
With a small knife, slice down the length of the vanilla bean and use the tip of the knife to scrape out the contents. Add both the paste and the pod into the saucepan.
Within minutes, you'll hear the blueberries popping and your jam will start to bubble. Let it cook for about thirty minutes and stir constantly. It will start to thicken up and you'll know it is ready by scraping a moat down the center. If it moat holds its shape for a moment without quickly settling back, then it's done!
Once it's done, let it cool for at least fifteen minutes. Get yourself a cute jar, make yourself some biscuits, and enjoy!
