Keto | Two Month Update
Mr. San Diego and I started our Keto journey on September 30th and I cannot believe how fascinating this entire experience has been. If you read my Two Week Update back in October, you know that I was committed to learning all that I could about why Keto worked and how to achieve the best results for my health.
Although I thought the Keto Flu was going to kill me in the beginning, I eventually got over it and things have been SO MUCH EASIER since! Now that we’ve completed eight entire weeks, I don’t have to pre-plan as much since I’ve really gotten the hang of it. Honestly, it’s the easiest and most sustainable diet I think I’ve ever been on.
I’m blown away by my results at this point and I cannot believe that I have lost…wait for it….TWENTY-FIVE friggin’ pounds in EIGHT weeks. Y’all – twenty-five! Mr. San Diego lost 19! Every single week, I lost at least a little bit of weight, with the biggest loss the very first week (mostly water weight, I’m sure). For the first four weeks I was also fasting, but I gave that up after I wasn’t feeling well during fifth week and just never picked it back up. I wasn’t (and still haven’t been) working out because I was really, really tired in the beginning and didn’t want to push my body too much. Now I don’t have much of an excuse.
Here are some of the amazing things that I’ve experienced:
Losing the weight, of course – but it’s where I’m losing it that has impressed me. My face is the most noticeable because it looks significantly slimmer! “Keto Face” is a real thing and I can’t believe my second chin is gone.
My skin has cleared up LIKE CRAZY. I’ve always had texture issues and patches of acne, usually around my jaw line, but my skin is almost entirely clear! I also had some texture/bumps around my arms that have always been there but are now completely gone. Oh, and the darkness under my eyes has seriously lightened up.
My allergies are SO. MUCH. BETTER. I don’t even take my allergy medication anymore! I actually don’t take a single pill that isn’t a vitamin, and I was on several daily medications for years!
My eczema has almost completely gone away. I still get a little itchy on my hands but that’s it!
I seem to have significantly more energy in the evenings. When I come home from work, I would normally eat dinner and then accidentally fall asleep on the couch. I haven’t done that at all in the past month, which is making me more productive!
Although I constantly groan about missing out on carbs (like tamales during the Holidays), I really don’t ever feel tempted to cheat! Aside from the very first two days, I haven’t cheated at all!
Keto and Texas are an excellent combination because…brisket.
Here are some of the not-so-great things I’ve experienced:
I need new bras. Smaller bras. It’s depressing.
It’s hard to eat properly when you’re out and about. There aren’t too many options while you’re on the run. However, I always keep a low-carb protein bar in my purse and at my desk, just in case. It helps but it sucks sometimes.
Week 05 – Lost 1.2 lbs.
Week 06 – Lost 2.2 lbs.
Week 07 – Lost 4.6 lbs.
Week 08 – Lost 0.6 lbs.
Week 01 – Lost 8.2 lbs.
Week 02 – Lost 3.0 lbs.
Week 03 – Lost 2.4 lbs.
Week 04 – Lost 3.0 lbs.
Mr. San Diego and I plan to keep this up for a while since I can’t really think of a reason to slow down or stop! My original goal was three months but I’m really happy with what we’re doing and want to see how far I can go!
