Such a Cool Concept
Some of my absolute favorite reading experiences have come from picking up books I knew absolutely NOTHING about. It is SO MAGICAL to come across an incredible book that completely surprises you - no expectations or pre-existing knowledge from reading reviews.
That is why I decided to sign up for Book of the Month Club.
How It Works
BOTM Club curates a selection of 5-7 books as their picks for each month, each in a different genre. You can select which book you want for that month, and they ship you a hardcover book with their BOTM stamp on it, all wrapped up in a cute little blue box.
Why I Think It’s Fun
I’m always on the hunt for a good new book, but I don’t always make good choices and end up feeling like I wasted my time and money on a dud. BOTM Club vets all their books and purposely curates a collection they think will be loved. I get that magical surprise of an unknown book (unknown to me, at least) without the dread of a possible poor selection. I don’t bother looking past the genre and cover (I absolutely judge a book by its cover, sorry), I just pick what looks cool and get excited to read something completely unexpected!
Note: BOTM Club does provide a one-sentence synopsis of each book on their monthly selection page, but it’s not enough to give you any spoilers. Should you choose to find out a bit more, they also have a spoiler-free review that gives a little more context.

Price
$16.99 a month for one book, which, if you ask me, is a great price for a hardcover.
$169.99 a year for 12 credits, bringing the price down to $13.99 per book.
You can add up to two extra books to your subscription for an extra $16.99 per book.

Selecting Your Book
BOTM releases 5-7 new books for the month’s picks, each in a different genre, for you to pick from. However, you don’t HAVE to pick one of the month’s curated picks if you don’t want to. They have a large catalog of past picks that you can select instead.
I signed up last month in May and my first pick was The Lost Apothecary, which was technically a pick from March 2021. The photos in this post are of Woman of Light, which was one of the June 2021 picks. I’ll be posting a review for that book separately - this post is just about BOTM Club.
Skipping
If your TBR pile is too big and you’re behind, you can skip a month and your credit will roll over into the next month. You can also cancel by calling and the number is clearly listed on their website in the Membership section.
OBSESSED
Honestly, I adore this subscription and I’m so happy that I FINALLY signed up! Both of the books I’ve received have been INCREDIBLE and I cannot wait to see what comes next!!
