YOU GUYS - Texas barbecue is AMAZING. Our very first sit down meal as official Texans was at the highly recommended Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell. We knew it was the perfect place to take our friends who were visiting from San Diego to get a taste of what Texas barbecue is like!

Eating at Hard Eight is an experience in itself. When you first walk in, you walk past a row of smokers pumping out smokey clouds of delicious goodness. You can see the staff tending to the coals, buttering up corn, and chopping up the finished meats. Everything is ordered by weight, so you can technically get a little bit of everything and try it all in one sitting.

Now, I've had a fair amount of barbecue in my life, but nothing compares to how INSANELY DELICIOUS the food was here.

Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs (we didn't heed the warning at the weight station) and we all ordered way too much, even though we thought we only "got a little" of a few things. After you select your meats, they get weighed and you're given your food and a ticket - and then you walk inside to find even more food! Portioned mac and cheese, cobbler pies, white bread (because apparently that is a thing), and sauces can be picked up down the line until you reach the register.

You can pick up your Shiner Bock at the Saloon, grab some community beans from the giant pot in the back, and find a seat indoors or outdoors.

We loved the food and we loved the experience! We now have a perfect place to take our out of town friends!
